Ombak Rindu the movie

I AM BACK!!! :p
Thanks to Diana. Reading her review on Ombak Rindu brings back my mood to blog! Good! I miss blogging but everytime i came to blogger to write, i stucked!

OK. Now. The review.

First time i heard about my favorite novel Ombak rindu will be in motion picture was somewhere last year, without knowing who's gonna play the hero, but i got excited anyway, and i started looking for more info in
the net, and later this year i got to know Aaron will be Hariz, and the heroin will be Maya Karin. I am 100%
agree with the hero, but Maya? hmmm..OK let me start this by reviewing the stars?

1. Aaron Aziz
He is the latest Malaysian's heartthrob in the film industry now i guess. we see him like everywhere, in dramas, in movies and i must mention in theatre too! great achivement huh for an outsider who mencarik makan kat sini? :-) No doubt he has the look, and look comes with talent as well. in Ombak rindu he was Hariz, son of a rich family who was also Son Of a B**** (haha!) before and when he met Izzah the first time. but as hero, he shld hv the 'good' heart as well so he bought Izzah and made her his mistress, and later his wife. Very nice guy huh? marrying a girl just to get her body. Must be love (?)

Here his act shld be more chanllenging - i guess. he should be loving and at the same time being lustful SOB ekeke... but honestly i think his act was not much different with those he had done in his dramas. He was real good at crying sence, but overall.. nothing extra from him. i saw the same in Stanza cinta when he was
with Fatiya Latif where he also cried. his gangster role, was not able to beat himself in KL gangster.

He did just OK in the romantic sences, but i hate it when he talks slowwly like word.by.word as if it was romantic! i prefer him talking as usual.. and the scence when he bullied Maya when he assumed Maya was
pregnant, oh! it was exactly the same way he did to Erra Fazira in Badai Semalam theatre! urghh!

7/10 for Aaron Aziz :-)

2. Maya Karin
hmmm I was never her fan.. i watched few of her movies such as PHSM, SDM, Pisau Cukur and latest before Ombak Rindu was 'Cun' and i was still not convinced by her acting. I always thought that she looks 'fake' as in she tried too hard for her characters. not natural. in Ombak rindu she was Izzah, a village girl who was so unlucky to have a bad uncle, and later become bit lucky tht she became a legal wife to a handsome rich and romantic man, and later became sooo lucky that he loved her back unconditionally, but before tht she had to experience being raped and bullied :p

Compared to her previous characters, in Izzah we saw Maya differently. yes with that outdated way of wearing hijab is one.. but this character was heavy compared to her prv characters as vampires in PHSM, or city girl in Pisau Cukur and Cun, or blind girl in Sri Dewi Malam. This time she got a strong character. and to be fair, she improved. she did better than herself in other movies - though i still think she tried too hard. hehe. good job Maya! . but wait. but this DOES NOT mean that she is the best to play Izzah's character. I think she was bit too old for that role. Izzah in the novel was supposed to be someone just after school, wasnt it? like after STPM ke SPM ke.. and Maya? she's more like a mom with 2 kids ekekekeke!! and she looks older in hijab ...

6/10 for Maya :-)

3. Lisa
One thing that draw my attention when watching her in the movie was her lips! haha! she has a very cute lips,
hasnt she? and then she wore sleeveless that exposing her birthmark, or was it a BCG mark at her arm? ekeke.. sorry but honestly that disturbed me! :p ok nothing much to say about Lisa's acting. as many had said, she did better compared to other movies, but hmmm.. most of the time i couldnt really get what she
said. Must be due to the high pitch kot ekeke..

5/10 for Lisa - tak memberi kesan mendalam.

4. Zaidi Omar as Pak Dollah
OK. i have to review him :) know why? he was excellent! he touched my heart when he raised his hand praying to God after knowing Hariz and Izzah were hubby and wife. and I saw his sincere cry. I cried as if i understand how he feels. 2 thumbs up Pak Dollah!

8/10 for Zaidi Omar

The rest? no need lah!

OK now, the movie. If I watched it without relating to the novel, I can say this movie was good. hmmm... no?. ok i mean the making. i can say good. very smooth esp. between scence. no hanging scence (direct translation). The soundtract was excellent as well. Only some small details were not really looked into.

but hmmm.. unfortunately i've read the novel. so when i watched it, I couldnt avoid to compare the feelings i had when I was reading the novel. i couldnt get the same feelings. I found the plot was too fast ... well.. i know this comparison is unfair. it took me more than 1 day to finish the novel, and i hv only 2 hours in the movie. the difference shld be expected, but hey .. its the feelings it gave that made the novel was so good. So the movie shld at least gave me that, shldn't it??! but sadly it didnt.. Without feelings, it was just another melancolic movie. it can not be called as Ombak Rindu. They shld change the title, maybe. Yes some scenes were so sad, but only because they cried. but there was no feelings building up in me when watching. easy said, there was no satisfaction!

movie: 7/10
movie compared to novel: 4/10

OK. i rest my case. I would hv write my own novel if i proceed further :p
